Craft Sale and Homestudy -- God is Good!

This was a very big weekend for us and now that it’s over I finally feel like I can breathe a little! Friday was the Youth Group Progressive Dinner and Christmas Party, Saturday was our adoption fundraiser craft sale AND our first homestudy appointment! Did I mention that it was finals week for John’s first semester in seminary? Yea … crazy busy in our house!!God is so good, though! John did wonderfully in all his classes! The craft sale was a huge success, and the homestudy went great!

Sarah is our pastor’s daughter in law. She and her husband, Josh, help John and I with the Youth. Josh does all our music and video promos for events, and they attend all the events to help run things with us. They are a HUGE blessing in our lives and we’ve developed a wonderful friendship. Shortly after we shared with them our plans to adopt I was telling Sarah about my trust that God would provide the money somehow. About a week later she came to me with this idea of the craft sale! She and two other ladies are extremely talented in the area of making paper crafts (handmade greeting cards, stationary boxes, and more!) I quilt and do a few other handmade things. So, the four of us worked hard for the last month or so and finally had our craft sale on Saturday. I was blown away by the love of these friends who sacrificed so much time and effort for our adoption. All the proceeds from the day went to our adoption fund! God was so good too, because we planned the date and time without any knowledge that other things were happening at the church. When we got there we realized that there was also a cookie exchange and Christmas play practice happening, so all the people there for those events came to the craft sale too!! We couldn’t have planned it like that … only God is that wise and wonderful!! The amount we raised far exceeded my expectations! It will not pay for everything – but it is a big step toward our second payment. God is so faithful!

Here are the pictures from the day…

on the left is one of John's friends from seminary - John's in the middle - and on the right is Chad. Chad and John were roommates at VMI and he and his wife drove 2 hours from Richmond to stop by and support us! We love our friends so much!! : )

Our homestudy went very well, too! We felt so comfortable and the social worker truly made us feel like friends. She was there to help us walk through this process and make everything as clear as possible. We're so excited to be one step closer to our son! Our last homestudy appointment is on December 29th - keep us in your prayers!

So glad to see your craftsale went so well! Do you mind sharing how much you made with it? We are in the VERY beginning stages of adoption, havnt sent in our application yet but we know where we are adopting from and the agency! I would love if you could tell me any info on how to do a craftsale and what all you did and how you prepared and informed and such! We are trying to come up with ways to fundraise also! We are praying and trusting God will provide all the money for our adoption!
