Blog Partayyy!!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

I love a good blog party! 5 minutes for mom is hosting this one and it's sure to be F.U.N! Lot's of giveaways and new friends to be made! : ) Just click the button above to join in!

For all you who are new to my blog today I would love to give you a quick intro to who I am and what this blog is all about! : ) For those of you who have been following for awhile - there still might be a random tidbit to pick up! : )

First off, I'm Lauren ... this is me...

I'm a stay at home Youth Pastor's wife. For those of you who might wonder if I just watch soaps all day while I sit on the couch and eat bon bons... ha.ha. There's no time for that! Between serving my husband, keeping house, serving in ministry to the teens, doing Bible Studies for the girls, and several other odd jobs, I've got plenty to keep me occupied!

First on my list is being a helper to my amazingly wonderful husband John.  He is a full time Youth Pastor at our incredible church. He loves working with the teens and I love helping him! I also love being with the teen girls and planning things for them. John is also a full time seminary student. He's just finishing up his first year in the Master of Divinity program. That means he's one busy guy ... and handsome too... dontcha think?

My number one passion? Jesus Christ. I am head over heels and live each day with undying devotion to Him. He's the One who brought me life and picked me up out of the pit I'd jumped into. I owe everything to Him. He's also given me a purpose and direction for my life: to spread His love and compassion to as many as I can. This has taken on a few different meanings.

I'm all about orphan care! ALL ABOUT IT! We're adopting a precious baby boy from Ethiopia and can't wait to meet him! We're hoping for sometime before Christmas this year to bring him home. This is our first time adopting and we love it so far! We've also been foster parents in the past and plan to do that again in the future. You'll get many adoption updates if you follow along here.

I also love love love to write and share Christ's love through my blog and through my articles for the amazing Exemplify Online Magazine. It's been such a fun and incredible journey. I write for the family channel over there and much of my focus is on infertility and pregnancy loss. I have vast experience with both. You'll find me writing about that occasionally here, too.

Other than that I am obsessed with  passionate about my home (cleaning, decorating, painting, rearranging, etc...) I love to sew, quilt, scrapbook, garden, paint, cook, and read! Old movies are my favorite veg-out activity. My favorite book is Little Women. I'll write about all this stuff every so often here, too.

So there's the run down... hope you decide to stick around for awhile because I LOVE to make new friends! If you want to get to know me a little more, check out to tabs at the top. "My Story" has more details about our journey toward parenthood and our experience with miscarriages and infertility. "Our Ethiopian Adoption" is about just that! If you want to send me an email, just click "Contact." And THANKS for stopping by ... you look lovely today! : )

Lauren,
I have been around a while, so I knew most of the information you shared. You two are so precious. Praying for baby Tucker and your ministry.

You're such an inspiration. I, too am a stay at home wife because we can afford too and because I cannot find a job. It's definitely a social stigma to live up too, but honestly I love it most days.
We, too are also struggling with fertility issues and have considered adopting but with the constant moving of the Marine Corps, we're quite limited. So, hopefully once we're stationed someplace for a longer than 2 years, we'll look deeper into it.
I'm praying for your lil man!

Yay for blog parties!!! Isn't it crazy how people think stay at home wives and moms do nothing?! We never run out of things to do! :)

Hope you have a great day!

I think its great that you stay at home and don't yet have children. Actually I dream of the day that will happen, lol. I love being home with my children and homeschooling them but there are certainly days when I think about how much I will get done and how much time I'll have for prayer or reading. :) I'll enjoy my children while I have them because already the years are moving so fast.

Blessings,
Theresa

Hats off to your husband. I was a M.Div. student, too. Finished up (levelling) last year. Now, D.Min.?

I like your blog. I linked here from Steve's blog where he has your blog featured as a blog he reads.

I would like to ask you and your husband to do a guest post on my blog. You can do one together or separately. I'm asking readers to submit their favorite book on marriage(by email) with a 2 paragrpah summary on the book and one paragraph on how it was helpful to them. If you guys choose to participate your submission will probably run in about 3 or 4 weeks (I'm doing it on Mondays). The first of the series is posted now on Family Fountain.

Best to you and your husband in your ministry. Cheryl and I have been at it now for 28 years and wouldn't change it.

Lauren,

How fun to learn all this about you! You sound like someone I could hang out with. :)
I understand the bon-bon comment all too well, as I am often asked why I don't work now that my son is away from home...ugh...I WORK! I clean, cook, sew, love, garden, keep my home and hubby happy....that's a good kind of work and I wouldn't want any other. :)
Blessings!

You can stop by my blog if you'd like! www.BringingUpBenjamin.com

I look forward to reading more about your story. I LOVE your passion for all things godly.

Just want to tell you ... when I was 21 I was told I needed an immediate hysterectomy. I went to a 2nd doc. and he told me that he would hold off on surgery, but that I had a 2% chance to ever get pregnant. Then ... the Lord stepped in, and I gave birth to 5 babies in the next 4 years.

After baby #6 (in 6 years) ... I too dealt with the loss of a pregnancy (and a D/C to remove my child). We were sure we were done, then.

After baby #7 ... I went into the hospital for a hysterectomy (for severe endometriosis), but the doc discovered that I had been healed (after battling the disease for 12 years).

3 more babies followed.

Then, the Lord led us to Africa ... where a sibling group of 3 joined us from Ghana.

So ... no matter what your story ... no matter what % the docs have given you ... I pray that you will continue to allow God to work out His plan for your family. It's an amazing journey of FAITH, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

Blessings,

Laurel :)
