transformation of a bathroom...

Fixing up a home... it's a never ending process. But, oh how I love the process!! Home renovating/decorating is one of my all time favorite things to do. This week it's our guest bathroom. It will actually be Tucker's bathroom too - which is super fun!

We moved into this house last August, so in just over a year we've accomplished a lot to make it our little sanctuary. But, this bathroom has been the sore toe of the house for ... well, ever! The floor is this lime green/ used-to-be-white-but-now-looks-yellow swirl. Really icky. The sink was wood base with an off white ceramic top. I painted the base white last fall, but the top is still slightly yellow with cracks in it. The tub and the toilet are avocado green. Yes, if you are imagining the ugliest bathroom ever you would be correct.

We haven't really done anything to it because we didn't want to spend the money, but now we are getting to re do the bathroom basically for FREE!!! YAY! My wonderful father in law came over this morning and he and John removed the sink, took out the toilet, and ripped up the floor. I am working with a clean slate people! Tomorrow I'll be painting the stark white walls a nice warm cream color. Then we have new floor given to us by the church! They redid all the floors in parsonage #1 (we live in parsonage #2) and had enough left over for us. Happy dance! We'll put that down this week too. It's beautiful. John's dad returns on Friday to help him put in a brand new beautiful white sink. It's free too - from John's parents. They bought it for themselves a couple years ago and it didn't fit in their bathroom. Instead of returning it they kept it to give to someone who needed it... which turned out to be us! They are also buying us a sparkly new toilet - which will be white, NOT avocado green! After they're installed I get to have fun with decorating.

Since the bathroom will be used for both Tucker and guests, I want it to be kid friendly, but not too childish. I've been searching for inspiration and found some fun pictures of kid bathrooms...

this is just adorable. end of story.

living near the beach makes me loooove this one!

this is just a great idea for multiple kiddos. I love the fresh brightness of it!

But, here's what I will end up trying to mimic... with pale green instead of blue...

I love the freshness and modern look. It's perfect for kids, but also nice for guests.

Can't wait to come back after the week is over to share before and after pictures!! :)

so cute! we might have you beat with the ugly bathroom though, we have pink, mint green and cream tiles on the the bottom half of the wall and painted white on the top with blue floors that apparently had laminate on them at one point but it was ripped off so then DIRT stuck to it...GROSS! The tub is painted white, over the mint green that you can still see. there are three little shelves that are also white paint over mint green that you can see through in spots. The black and white shower curtain doesn't make it any better ;) But sometimes you just have to laugh, right?

All of those ideas look simply wonderful! Choices, choices. I like to redecorate too. Have odles of fun. Praise God that you get to do for close to nothing. That's what makes it even more enjoyable. Can't wait to see the pics. Happy Decorating :-)

I've been on the hunt for free bathroom stuff too! Lately, both bathrooms in our house are making me nutty. Our kids are 4 and 6, but suddenly the thought of bringing a younger one home has me seeing every sharp corner and potential hazard!!! The kids' bathroom is stitches waiting to happen!
