{a miscellany and spotlight monday!}

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{one} a new appreciation for flu shots
Saturday morning our precious little boy woke up with a fever of 104. Off to the doctor we went and it turns out all three of us have the flu. When the doctor asked if we had gotten our flu shots this year we kind of hung our heads and said no. In our defense, we did get the flu shot a few years ago and STILL got the flu - so I'm not so sure how great those shots work in the first place! Anyway, we spent the weekend all piled into our bed watching movies and napping. It was kind of nice if you don't count the whole sick part...

{two} prayers for a little boy
A family was recently brought to my attention by a fellow blogger. They are a sweet young couple with a new baby boy named Damien. He's been having some serious health problems since his birth in January and could use your prayers. Please check out their story at their blog Pup and Tot and maybe leave them some encouragement. :)

{three} fundraising spotlight

Amy @ Filled With Praise is spotlighting the Ladd Family on her blog today... recognize the name? Yup, they're the Poppie Lane partnering family for this month! Stop by Amy's place to read more about them! :)

{four} free goodies!!
There is a BIG giveaway going on today over at Gussy's place! A Poppie Lane Spring Blue Necklace is part of the pot! :) I've won a couple awesome giveaways recently and it's so exciting when your name is the one announced... I hope you pop over to enter because I would LOVE to mail you the necklace! :)

{five} making friends

I love it - don't you? This Monday I was selected to be the spotlight blog on the Making Friends Monday Blog Hop! Welcome to any new visitors! Hope you'll stick around for awhile!

Welcome To Making Friends Monday Blog Hop 3/28/11
This Blog Hop is hosted by Living on Love and Cents, The Thrifty Things, Reviewed By Mom , and Coupons are Great.
This week's spotlight is Lauren from Poppie Lane {The Blog} This blog is #5 on the linky this week. Stop by and tell her hello! Here are a few things she wanted to share:
I started blogging 2 years ago and over the course of time my blog has evolved into Poppie Lane. It's a place where I share my adventures through marriage, ministry, mommyhood, and being a handmade business owner. Some of my passions are adoption, Africa, crafting, and Jesus. I started Poppie Lane {the shop} in September 2010 as a way for us to raise funds for our Ethiopian adoption. We brought our son home last month and are now able to help support other families adopting. 50% of all Poppie Lane profit goes to a different adopting family each month. See the "make a difference" page to read about our current Poppie Lane partnering family. I love my little family and my life as a pastor's wife and mother. It's my hope to make a positive impact in my time on earth and that stopping by my blog brightens your day. :)

Don't feel bad. Your doctor failed to tell you that the flu shot doesn't protect against the strain that is going around right now. We don't get the flu shot either. We ended up with Influenza A on Valentine's Day and the doctor didn't scold us since he knew the vax didn't protect against the A strain.
