Wedding fun - well... 2 of the 3 of us had fun...

We really have been blessed with a happy and content little guy. He rarely cries and fusses. Actually, he only ever fusses when the food isn't getting to his mouth fast enough! Crying is reserved for pretty much one thing - loud noises and lots of people. Mareto isn't at his most comfortable in big crowds. He prefers smaller gatherings or just mom and dad. :) But he absolutely hates lots of sudden noise. Outbursts of applause or cheering cause a lot of fear and a major meltdown for our little guy. So that brings us to Saturday and a beautiful wedding with 500+ guests. John and I had a great time visiting with old friends...

(Bride and Groom with almost all the VMI guys there... my husband would be the only one with longish hair... that's what leaving the Institute will do to someone who had been there for 10 years.)

Someone in our family did not have a great time though...
(too much noise, too many people, and a 30 min nap... a rare glimpse of a very unhappy boy)

it got a little better...
(still not too sure though...)

So while Daddy caught up with friends, mommy did lots of this...

...and then we decided it was time to go about 5 minutes later. Poor little guy. He was tired, overwhelmed, and overstimulated. At least we got to hug our friends and they all got to meet Mareto for the very first time. Even in tears he's still the cutest boy in the world! ;)
(Thanks, Leah, for the wonderful pictures!)

Poor baby!!! I gotta say, I get cranky if I don't get a nap, too, lol!!

What fun to share him with others! I think weddings are hard for anyone under four.

Brooks was the same way, and still is! (although now he doesn't cry at loud sounds, but almost!) - even if it was one person clapping 'cause he did a good job, or Brian, Kenna and I singing happy birthday, he'd burst into tears and shake! Going to Sam & Heathers was hilarious. She shouts SAMUEL and HANK all the time, and the poor child was an absolute nervous wreck by the time we got home! --I think it's a sign of a tender heart and sweet personality:-)

Still the a cute sweetie pie even when unhappy. And I must say I quite agree with him about the crowds (and the noise!) :) So glad you had a chance to see friends and for them to meet your sweet boy. Times like that are so precious.

Elijah was the same way in the beginning. It just takes time.

Beautiful pictures of your family. He is so cute even if he has a pouty face.
Hugs,
Amy
